About the University of Maryland Medical Center

UMMCThe University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) in Baltimore provides a full range of health care services, coordinated across two hospital campuses and several community locations. As the flagship of the University of Maryland Medical System, UMMC serves as a referral center for the most critically ill and injured patients in the Mid-Atlantic region. UMMC was established in 1823 in partnership with the first public medical school in the nation. Today, as then, all attending physicians at UMMC are faculty members at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

The University of Maryland Division of Transplantation is one of the nation’s busiest transplant programs — performing more than 400 organ transplants a year. The Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients has recognized UMMC for above-average outcomes for adults undergoing living-donor transplant.

The University of Maryland Comprehensive Heart and Vascular Center is a national leader in minimally invasive treatment options.

The world-class University of Maryland Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology at UMMC Midtown Campus is staffed by physicians recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. The education program meets the national standards for diabetes self-management education.
